Do Vinyl Wraps Impact Club Performance?

In short, no, vinyl wrapping your golf clubs will neither help nor hinder the club's performance. The small amount of added weight will not be noticeable and should not impact the feel or consistency of your swing.

More specifically, things that would be slightly affected by additional 2-4 grams of weight in the shaft are the moment of inertia, center of gravity, and energy transfer. The moment of inertia will slightly decrease because there is more material near the grip of the club, which could result in marginally easier rotation and marginally higher swing speed. The center of gravity will shift by a few millimeters towards the grip depending on the weight of the club head and the weight of the factory shaft. Energy transfer will be impacted because of the increased mass of the club which may cause an insignificant reduction in ball speed and distance (~0.1%). So, for the vast majority of golfers, there will be no real impact to club feel and performance.
